Janet E. Pettit

Janet E. Pettit, 84, of Galesburg, passed away at 3:10 AM on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Seminary Manor. She was born on September 13, 1932 in Farmington, IL to George and Wanda (Safford) Huey. She married David Pettit on May 18, 1985 in Farmington, IL, he survives.

Also surviving are six children, Lou Anne (Carl) Stanley of Elmwood, Leta (Richard) Likes of Monmouth, Deon (Randy) Wilkin of Missouri, Edward Meehan of Springfield, Pam (Mark) Bauer of California, and Jeanne Guy of Indiana; one sister, Kay Marchese of Chicago; twenty grandchildren and thirty great-grand-children.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ross Huey; two children, David Pettit Jr. and Jefferson Scott Pettit.

Janet worked for the Federal Government for many years where she later retired. She was a Rebekah. She was also a member of the Methodist Church of Farmington.

A celebration of life will be held from 1-4 PM on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Big Racks Steakhouse in Canton, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL.     Dave & family: I began my job at OSHA the very same day as Janet. She was a good friend, wonderful co-worker, very pleasant person, always pulling out the positives. I was so saddened to read her obit; my sincere sympathy to you, her loved ones. I know you will miss her dearly. She was such a good person!
