Dr. William L. Carper

Canton – Dr. William L. Carper, 86, of Canton, passed away at 5:36 AM on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Graham Hospital. He was born on October 7, 1931 in Canton, IL to Leonard N. and Olive (Rainey) Carper. He married the love of his life, Eleanor L. Webb on July 17, 1954 in Bushnell, IL, she survives.

Also surviving are four children, Elise (Geruza Paiva) Carper of Austin, TX, Joe (Anne) Carper of Decatur, AL, Kate (Robert) Lutzenhiser of Stevensville, MT, and Amy (Ron) Haughawout of Knoxville, IL; and five grandchildren, Sarah, Sam, Jude, Eric, and John.

William graduated from Canton High School in 1949. He attended Augustana College and later graduated from University of Illinois School of Medicine in 1956. William worked as a Doctor at the Coleman Clinic and Graham Hospital in Canton, IL from 1959 to 1992, and then moved to work for OSF Family Community Clinic in Peoria, IL until 1998. He participated in three medical mission trips to Haiti and Honduras. He was a member, Sunday school teacher, and counselor at Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton, IL and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #734 and Life Boy Scouts.

William served in the Army Medical Corps from 1957-1959.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton, IL. Rev. K. Bruce Rushing will officiate. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory. Robert J. Palley

Farmington– Robert J. Palley, 92, of Farmington, passed away at 4:10 AM on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Heartland Health Care in Canton. He was born on August 27, 1925, to Elizabeth (Maserati) Palley. He married Pat Porter. She preceded him in death in April 1979.

Robert was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by one daughter, Leigh Anne Taylor of Canton; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Robert worked in the office at Caterpillar. He was a member of the Farmington Moose Lodge and the American Legion. Robert was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed bingo and golf.

Robert served in the United States Army during the Korean War and World War II.

Dalmer E. Farr Jr.

Canton – Dalmer E. Farr Jr., 57, of Canton, passed away at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at his residence. He was born on December 10, 1960 in Canton to Dalmer and Irene (Fidler) Farr Sr.

Surviving is his father, Dalmer Sr. of Canton and two half-sisters, Laura Fitch of Macomb and Carolyn Leighter of Hot Springs, AR.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene on February 26, 2010.

He was a member of South Park United Methodist Church in Canton, IL.

Verda M. Roberts

Farmington – Verda M. Roberts, 92, of Farmington, formerly of Bryant, passed away at 10:05 PM on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Farmington Country Manor. She was born on July 15, 1925 in rural Knox County, IL to Orval and Marie (Buck) Toomer. She married Donald L. Roberts on April 22, 1944 in Lewistown, IL, he preceded her in death on August 16, 2007.

Also preceding in death are her parents; son, Don Roberts; brother, Bill Toomer; sister, Dorothy Grigsby; grandson, Neil Roberts.

Surviving are two children, Sheldon (Marie) Roberts of Smithfield, Verda J. Roberts of Farmington; daughter-in-law, Carol Roberts; four grandchildren, Ann Riccioni, Jennifer Roberts, Teresa Roberts, Joe Roberts; six great-grandchildren, Spencer Henderson, Hunter Henderson, Aly Roberts, Randy Williams, Emily Williams, Erica Riccioni; one great-great-grandchild, Amethyst Williams; and one sister, Mary Sill.

Verda loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Bryant Christian Church for 70 years.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10 AM to service time. Lynette C. (Buffum) Bubela

It is with great sadness that the family of Lynette C. (Buffum) Bubela announce her passing at the age of 68 on March 3, 2018. Born June 19, 1949, Lynette was a childhood resident of Canton, IL. Lynette left Canton to work in Washington D.C. for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She was married in 1970 to James F. Bubela for 13 years, and was a longtime resident of Lincoln, RI, where she worked as an administrative professional for several companies including a recruiting agency and several law firms. Lynette moved to Frisco, TX in 2006 to be closer to her family, and worked for Frisco ISD Child Nutrition.

Lynette was a loving mother and proud grandmother. Those surviving her are daughter, Jeanette C. Tefft (Chad), son, Brian J. Bubela (Sara), and 7 grandchildren: Joshua T. Tefft, Zachary C. Tefft, Olivia G. Tefft, Tyler D. Bubela, Kyle J. Bubela, Zoey E. Tefft, and Kypten D. Bubela.

She was also preceded in death by her parents Carroll D. Buffum, Martha A. (Leonard) Buffum, and her sister Leanne L. Buffum.

Lynette served Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She attended St. Jude Catholic Church in Lincoln, RI, and more recently Grace and Gateway Church, both in Frisco, TX. During the last several years, she fought hard to overcome breast cancer but eventually succumbed to the disease to be with the Lord. Lynette will be buried alongside her sister, mother, and father at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton, IL. Out of respect for Lynette’s wishes, the family will have a private memorial service. Patricia “Trish” J. VanHouten

Farmington – Patricia “Trish” J. VanHouten, 52, of Farmington, passed away at 11:28 PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on November 12, 1965 in Peoria, IL to Eugene and Carol (Crane) Bitner. She married Bruce VanHouten on January 25, 1985 in Farmington, IL, he survives.

Also surviving is her father, Eugene; two children, Jamie (Travis) Ward and Kelly (Mike) Hitchcock; four grandchildren, Rory Jean, Jovie, Elliott, and Grady; one brother, Richard (Libby) Bitner; and one sister, Ann (Craig) Brooks. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol, and one brother, Daniel Bitner.

Trish worked as an CISR for Kiesewetter Insurance for 20 years. She loved shopping, working in her flower garden, and traveling to the beach with family and friends. Most of all she loved spending time with her family,especially her grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held at 12 PM noon on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10 AM to service time. Rev. Mae L. Haney

Hanna City – Mae L. Haney, 85, of Hanna City, passed away at 5:22 AM on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Unity Point Health Proctor. She was born on June 20, 1932 in Mason City, IL to Raymond and Launa (Rafferty) Lounsberry. She married Roger Haney on December 31, 1950 in Peoria, IL, he preceded her in death in 2009.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Roger Dean Haney, one brother, Gerald Lounsberry, and one sister, Marilyn (Wooster) Miller.

Surviving are seven children, Denise (Dave) Fritz of Hanna City, LeeAnn (Steve) Featherlin of VA, Judy Linder of Brimfield, John Haney of Hanna City, Pamela Haney of East Peoria, Michael Haney of KY, and Scott (Andrea) Haney of Washington; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim Lounsberry of Sequim, WA; and two sisters, Sharon (Larry) Davis of Hanna City and Debra Lounsberry Inman of Farmington.

Mae was a member of the Farmington Moose and Hanna City Women’s Civic Organization. She was a part of bowling leagues and an avid Cubs fan.

Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Farmington, IL, where a visitation will be held from 11-1 PM. Earl D. White Jr.

Canton – Earl D. White Jr., 91, of Canton went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday morning February 22nd at Graham Hospital with his loved ones near.

He was born on November 23, 1926 in Canton, IL to Earl and Lillie (Lindquist) White.

Jr. married Beulah (Griggs) on July 15, 1950. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2017.

Also preceding him in death are his parents, Earl and Lillie White; one granddaughter, Susan L. Mahr; three great-granddaughters, Amber and Kari Mahr and Sophie Lowry; four brothers, Albert, Raymond, Kenneth, and Harold; and two sisters, Lila and Marie.

Also surviving are three daughters, Dianne J. Lowe, Linda (Jim) White, Susan (late Bob Curry) White; six grandchildren, Michael D. (Michele) Lowe Jr., Amy D. (Mark) Lowry, Josh D. (Kethra) Lowe, Becki S. (Tom) Bass, Bobbi (Ken) Herz, Ben (Holly) White; eighteen great-grandchildren, Adian, Casey, and Ryan Lowe, Anthony (Jen) Mahr, Jessica (Kyle) Jansen, Katie (Dan) Dallefeld, Elizabeth and Jack Lowry, Grayson and Dawson Lowe, Nate and Sam Bass, Parker, Jackson, and Lauren Herz, Nolan, Ava, and Griffin White; four great-great-grandchildren, Glenn Smith, A.J. and Caleb Mahr, and Addie Dallefeld; two sisters, Mable (late George) Bain of Weatherford, TX, and Melba (Carroll) Dearing of Canton.

Earl served in the Navy on the USS McGowan Ship #678, which is now retired and he was the last one of his brothers to join the military during World War II.

Earl worked at Caterpillar for 35 years, retiring on April 1st, 1982. He enjoyed walking at Lakeland and the YMCA, playing pool at the rec center, and attending ball games of his grandkids. Jr. was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan. He enjoyed his daily phone calls with his sister Mable. Earl and Beulah enjoyed their many years of vacationing in Minnesota and visiting family in Texas and Kentucky. He loved fishing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren proudly called him papa and gramp. Jr. and Gram enjoyed driving around looking for birds and deer. He was known in the family for his jokes, stories, and singing hymns.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL, where a visitation will be held from 10-11 AM. Rev. Ramona L. Anderson

Canton – Ramona L. Anderson, 63, of Canton, passed away at 1:53 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Graham Hospital in Canton, Illinois. She was born on September 28, 1954 in Houston, Texas. She grew up in Hanna City, IL, raised by her loving parents Larry and Alice (Simonson) Simpson. She married Roger Anderson on January 13, 1991 in Farmington, IL, he survives.

Also surviving are three children; Amos (Annette) Anderson of Canton, Alichia (Terry) Terreteta of Canton, and Bret (Wendy) Anderson of Pekin; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Lyle, Steve, Micky, and Rocky; three sisters, Susie, Cindy, and Marnajean.

She was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Randy, and Hubert.

Ramona was a homemaker. She loved her family and was a big animal lover.

Cremation rites will be accorded with Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, Canton, IL. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Canton. Joyce E. Romine

 Joyce E. Romine, 78, of Canton, passed away at 7:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on April 1, 1939 in Canton, a daughter of Herbert and Fern (Roberts) Post. She married Ronald Romine on July 30, 1955 in Canton. He survives.

Also surviving are her daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Ryan of Canton; three grandchildren, Allison (Max) Huskey, Jeffery “Jeff” (Kate) Ryan, and Scott Romine; two great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Brooke Hendricks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Douglas Allen Romine,  and one sister, Barbara Smith.

Joyce enjoyed being a Homemaker and taking care of her family over the years, she was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Canton, and a member of the Red Hat GO-GO Girls Club.

Private family graveside service and burial will be held on Thursday, February, 22, 2018 at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. Rev. Kevin VanTine will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes and Crematory in Canton. A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Canton Elk’s Lodge.
