Bellevue – Doris J. Siebel, 85, of Bellevue, IL passed away at 8:25 AM Monday, May 25, 2015 at Heddington Oaks, Peoria.

She was born October 8, 1929 in Canton, MO to Perry and Lucille (Chambers) Lillard.

Doris married John E. Siebel Jr. on February 18, 1950 in Peoria. He died December 27, 1977.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, step-father, Arnold Meyer; 2 brothers, William and Don Meyer; and her special uncle, Joe Lillard.

Surviving are 2 children, David (June) Siebel Sr. of Bellevue and Lisa (Roger) Bauer of Bartonville; 5 grandchildren, Holly Bauer, Michael Spani, David Siebel Jr., Brandon Bauer, and Jonathan Siebel; 1 great grandson, Kolton Ramer; 3 brothers, Larry (Janet) Meyer, Gary (Sandi) Meyer, and Ken (Shirley) Meyer; a special niece, Debra Taylor; and her faithful friend, Gizmo.

Doris was a clerk at the Peoria County Circuit Clerks Office, retiring October 8, 1996.

She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Peoria.

She enjoyed gardening, boating, sewing, painting, spending time with her family, and playing cards with her grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 1st at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Bartonville where visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Sunday, May 31st.

Rev. Craig Hislope will officiate.

Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Peoria.

Canton- Shirley A. Strode, 79, of Canton, passed away at 10:50 am Sunday, May 24 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on May 3, 1936 in Canton to Fred A. and Anna Laura (Moore) Somers. Shirley married Dick Strode on July 3, 1955 in Canton. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1998. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one great grandson Cohen Stremmel. Surviving are 4 children; Gregory G. Strode, Jeffrey J. (Tina) Strode, Laura L. (Todd) Harris, and Scott S. (Heather) Strode all of Canton, 10 grandkids; Ketra B. (Aaron) Stremmel, Andrew J. (Camille) Strode, Joel T. (Natalie) Strode, Jared S. (Crystal) Strode, Alissa A. (Andrew) Christman, Bethany B. Strode, Maggie A. Harris, Drake S. Strode, Samantha R. Strode, and Rebecca A. Strode, 8 great grandkids; Aiden Stremmel, Lilith Strode, Devota Strode, Parker Strode, Jackson Strode, Maxwell Christman, Grayson Christman, Thoran Christman, 2 sisters; Peggy (Russ) Frank of Irvine, CA, and Judith (Boots) Cully of Athens, IL, and a brother in law Ted (Martha) Strode of Canton.

Shirley was a 1954 Canton High School Graduate, loved to read, wrote encouraging and inspirational cards, letters, and notes. Was a caretaker for many family members, did genealogy, enjoyed lunch with friends, and was a sports fan of the Cubs, Cardinals, and Canton High School. She worked as a secretary at WIU, King’s Auto Electric, and Lawrence McMunn Law Office. Shirley was a member of Shield’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and great grandmother.

Services will be 11 am Thursday, May 28 at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with Rev. Rick Atchley officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. Memorials can be made to Channel 47 or the Parlin Ingersoll Library. James P. Nichols Sr.

Canton – James P. Nichols Sr., 83, of Canton passed away at 9:13 am Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Renaissance Care Center, Canton.

He was born October 10, 1931, in Farmington, IL to James H. and Matilda (Brohn) Nichols. He first married Sherry Nebergall and then Alice Jones. He married Mary Jean (Lowder) Waddell on July 10, 2003 in Virginia, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are 3 children, Diane (Mike) Davis and Chuck (Teresa) Nichols both of Florida, and Kelly Everett of Tennessee; one adopted daughter, Chris Dilts; five step-children, Tammy, Karen, Vicki (Mike) Ward, Robyn (Skip) Berto, Lisa, and Debora (Robert) Bown; numerous grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother, David (Pat) Nichols of Canton; and his favorite dog, Izzi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jimmy and Eddy Nichols; one step-daughter, Donna Jean (Pollitt) Vance; 3 brothers, Doug, Walter, and Phillip; and two sisters, Jackie and Rosemary.

James retired from the Duck Creek Power Plant and was a member of I.U.O.E. Local #649. He then worked for the Canton Park District.

He attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton.

James enjoyed bowling, fishing, and was an avid Cubs fan.

He was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 28th at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton where visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, May 27th.

Rev. K. Bruce Rushing will officiate.

Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Canton.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Peoria – William Mason Whitfield, 91, of Peoria, IL passed away at 1:40 AM Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Farmington Country Manor.

He was born February 9, 1924 in Champaign, IL to Nicholas M. and Gladys M. (Stevenson) Whitfield.

He married Lora J. Sherman on September 12, 1943 and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2014.

Surviving are four children, Nick (Mari) Whitfield Sr. of Springfield, Mary Jane Shea of Peoria, Shirley Kucavik of Bartonville, and William F. Whitfield of Peoria; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 grandson, Nicholas R. Whitfield Jr., 3 brothers; and 1 sister.

William worked for Caterpillar, where he was a clerk in the supply department in the Maintenance Crib. He retired after 30 plus years service.

He was a member and Deacon of the Second Baptist Church in Peoria.

He volunteered at South Side Mission for 30 years and received its Helen Haien Good Samaritan Award.

He was also a member of South Side Mission’s Harvesters Group and UAW Local 974.

He enjoyed woodworking.

Services will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, May 22nd at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Bartonville with visitation one hour prior.

Rev. David Scholl will officiate.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.

Richard Wilcoxen

Richard W. Wilcoxen 84, of East Peoria, formerly of Bartonville and Liverpool became absent from the body and present with the Lord on May 14, 2015 at 2:30 am at the OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born on March 5, 1931 to Floyd L. and Corrine A. “Brownie” Warren Wilcoxen at home in Liverpool, IL.

He married his childhood sweetheart Donna J. Pollitt on September 29, 1950 in Canton, IL. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2004. He is survived by two children, Nancy Jo Lawless (Robert) of Bartonville and Rev. Richard Scott Wilcoxen (Sharon) of Niceville, FL. Four grandchildren, Nathan (Jeanette) Kurth of Hanna City, Jared (Amanda) Kurth of Peoria, Daniel (Mary Ann) Wilcoxen and Ann E. (Joshua) Riggins both of Niceville, FL. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Zander and Hunter Kurth, August and Allison Kurth, Logan and Kinsey Wilcoxen and Isaiah and Elijah Riggins.

Richard is also survived by three brothers, Floyd E. (Sherill) Wilcoxen of Liverpool, James N. (Carol) Wilcoxen of Rural Lewistown, and Dale L. (Judy) Wilcoxen of Havana and many nieces and nephews. Richard is also survived by his close friend and cousin, Don (Beverly) Wilcoxen of Canton

The Family would like to express our love and gratitude to our “special” Aunt Norma Phelps, who helped us look after dad and her children who are like our own brothers and sisters, Doug, Barb, Greg, Clayton and Lenord for their love, concern and prayers.

Richard served in the Navy aboard the USS Pocono during the Korean War. He worked in engineering at Caterpillar Tractor Co. retiring after 30 years of service. After he retired, he and his wife Donna served in the RVICS “Retired Volunteers in Christ’s Service”. They traveled the country in the “home on wheels” doing service projects for Christian schools, Churches and Bible Camps.

Richard was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and served for many years as a member of The Monday Morning Work Group at Grace Presbyterian where he enjoyed serving the Lord by doing what he did best, fixing things that needed repair. He valued the friendship and fellowship he had with his fellow volunteers as they served the Lord together.

Funeral Services will be held at Murphy-Sedgwick Funeral Home in Canton, IL on May 19, 2015   at 11:00 A.M. with visitation an hour before the service. The Rev. Scott Wilcoxen will officiate. Burial will be in the Salem-Wilcoxen Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to the Central Illinois Riding Therapy 305 Neuman Dr. East Peoria, IL 61611, which great grandson Hunter is a member. Ila Marie Lewis

Canton – Ila Marie Lewis, 92, of Canton, IL passed away at 2:53 PM Monday, May 11, 2015 at Heartland Health Care, Canton.

She was born August 2, 1922 in Fayette County, Iowa to Fred John and Edith (Gestel) Heeren. Ila married Orville W. Lewis on December 15, 1945 in Tampico, IL. He died August 1, 1996.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Pat Hopkins; one son, Bill Lewis; two brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are five children, John Lewis of Cordova, TN, Nikki Lewis of Canton, Jerry Lewis of Canton, Glen Lewis of Summerville, TN, and Tony Lewis of Abingdon, MD; ten grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Francis “Bud” Heeren of Sierra Vista, AZ and Donald Heeren of Rock Falls; and four sisters, Clara Dobbeke of Deer Grove, Priscilla Shelton of Rochelle, Velma Zimmerman of Rochelle and Emma Jones of Wynne, AR.

Ila was a homemaker and day care provider for many years.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canton.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, May 22nd at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tampico, IL with visitation one hour prior at the church.

Burial of ashes will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tampico, IL.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Food Pantry.

Canton – Ernest D. Peterson, 81, of Canton, IL passed away at 6:42 PM Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Sunset Manor, Canton.

He was born December 20, 1933 in Breeds to John H. and Maude (Foulk) Peterson. He first married Kathleen Stevens and later married Barbara Snook.

Surviving are nine children, Michael (Sue) Peterson of Canton, Debra Parker of Georgia, Joyce (Bill) Homan of Trivoli, Don (Sandy) Peterson of Woodward, OK, John (Diane) Peterson of Mt. Morris, and David (Kerrie) Peterson, Phillip (Kris) Peterson, Bobbie (Tom) Renner, and Billie (Dennis) Quaco all of Polo; twenty four grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one great granddaughter, seven brothers, and three sisters.

Ernest worked in construction.

He was a member of the VFW of Canton and was a Korean War Veteran.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

There will be no services.

Timothy “T.J.” Sutherland

Timothy "T.J." SutherlandFairview- Timothy “T.J.” Sutherland, 23, of Fairview passed away at 11:32 AM Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born August 23, 1991 in Rogers, AR to Sherman “Sonny” L. Sutherland Jr. and Christina (Merriman) Seward.

Surviving are his father of Fairview; his mother of Lincoln, AR; grandparents, Sherman L. (Dorothy) Sutherland Sr. of Fairview and David Merriman of Independence, KS; great grandma, Margaret A. Sutherland of Rogers, AR; two brothers, Gary L. Sutherland of Pea Ridge, AR and Patrick Seward of Prairie Grove, AR; one sister, Jenna Seward of Prairie Grove, AR; his aunts and uncles, Dawn (Jim) Record of Farmington, IL, Jamey (Charity) Sutherland of Houston, TX, Jon Sutherland of St. Louis, Amos (Courtney) Sutherland of Macomb, Rick Merriman of Springfield, MO, D.J. Merriman and Jacob Merriman both of Pierce City, MO; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Cheryl Merriman.

He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company as a fork truck operator, and previously worked two years as a cook at Chipotle in Peoria.

He was a member of Farmington First Baptist Church, Farmington, AR.

T.J. loved football and was an avid Eagles fan. He could quote stats dating back into the 1970’s.

He was also an avid gamer and collected Dragon Ball Z and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles memorabilia.  He would do anything to try to get a laugh from people.

In hopes to help others, T.J. was an organ and tissue donor.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home Farmington.  Curt Lipe will officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday May 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Cremation rites will be accorded following the service.

Memorials may be made to Farmington Rescue 1100 or the St.Francis Neurological ICU.

Gordon M. “Doc” Cramer

Farmington – Gordon M. “Doc” Cramer, 94, of Farmington, IL passed away at 7:32 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at the Farmington Country Manor.

He was born January 27, 1921 in Trivoli Township, IL to Charles M. and Lucy C. (Manning) Cramer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Barbara Bruniga.

Surviving are his great niece, Lori (Justin) Osborne of Canton and two great great nephews, Eli and Caleb Osborne.

Doc retired from Hiram Walker.

He was a lifetime member of the Farmington Moose Lodge #1571 and also a member of the Farmington American Legion Post #140 and America Trap Shooting Association.

He was a US Air Force veteran, serving in WWII in Europe.

Per his request, a private graveside service will be held in Trivoli Cemetery.

Rev. Jessica Baldyga will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.

Trivoli – Daniel E. Rusch, 54, of Trivoli, IL passed away at 12:49 PM Monday, May 4, 2015 at his residence.

He was born January 25, 1961 in Peoria to Earl and Dorothy (Wagner) Rusch. Danny married Ruth Glueck on March 10, 2007 in Brimfield.

She survives along with their daughter, Sheridan Rusch, at home; his mother, Dorothy Rusch of Trivoli; brother, John Rusch of Middle Grove; and sisters, Irene Endress of Monmouth, Debra Losher of Huntley, and Katherine Umholtz of Mapleton.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Danny was a farmer and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brimfield.

God and family were Danny’s priorities.

He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother and spent all of his free time with his family.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 7th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brimfield where visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:00 AM.

Rev. Michael Liese will officiate.

Burial will be in Penn Ridge Cemetery in Trivoli.

Memorials may be made to a trust fund for Sheridan c/o Heritage Bank in Trivoli or the Logan-Trivoli Fire Protection District.
