O. Fred “Babe” Woods

Farmington – O. Fred “Babe” Woods, 72, of Farmington, IL passed away at 11:43 PM Monday, May 4, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

He was born February 7, 1943 in Canton to Donald and Peggy (Riccioni) Woods.

He married Linda DeCoste.

Surviving are his mother, Peggy Van Fossen of Farmington; uncle, Dean E. Riccioni of Claremont, CA; and several cousins.

His father preceded him in death.

Babe worked for International Harvester in Canton and transferred to the Indiana plant until his retirement in 1996.

He was an avid hunter and also loved hill climbing on motorcycles.

He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and was a member of the Harley Owners Group. He was also a member of the Farmington Moose Lodge #1571 and National Rifle Association

Visitation will be held from 12:45 to 1:45 PM Saturday, May 9th at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington followed by a 2:00 PM Graveside Services at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington.

Rev. Bob DeBolt will officiate.

Francisco “Joe” Palazzo Jr.

Bartonville- Francisco “Joe” Palazzo Jr., 63, of Bartonville, passed away at 10:42 AM Monday, May 4, 2015, in Canton.

He was born in Peoria on March 8, 1952 to Francisco and Ruth (Nuendorf) Palazzo. He married Karen Gray in Bartonville on March 5, 2010, she survives.

Also surviving are his Mom of Mapleton; three children, Tara (Joshua) Livingston of Galesburg, Jeffrey (Sandra) Palazzo of Oklahoma, and Toni (Derrick) Palazzo-Page of Missouri; four brothers, Dennis (Lynn) Palazzo of Oquawka, and Tom, Jeff, and Terry Palazzo, all of Mapleton; one sister, Sue Eubanks of Pekin; and several nieces and nephews. He was proud to be a Grandpa and will be greatly missed by his “Duffs” and “Scooter” as well as his other ten grandchildren and family.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Brandi, his father, and his brother Greg.

He worked as a Boilermaker and was a member of Boilermakers Local 60.

Joe was also a member of VFW Post 3883, Bartonville.

He enjoyed fishing, simulator flying, and was an avid Cubs Fan. Joe was known by many and loved to spend time with his family and his dogs.

Joe served in The United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Services will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 8, at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Bartonville. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery, Pekin.

In honor of Joe’s love for the Cubs, please wear Cubs apparel or colors to the service.

Joan Cardosi

Canton – Joan Cardosi, 83, of Canton, IL passed away at 10:34 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

She was born December 9, 1931 in Canton to Oren and Velma (Pollitt) McGinnis. Joan married Charles D. Cardosi on June 3, 1951 in Canton and he died on December 10, 2006.

Surviving are four children, Leah Ayers, Carla Ackerman, and Lori Cardosi all of Canton and Brad Cardosi of Springfield; three grandsons, Troy Dunberger, BJ Ackerman, and Nathan Cardosi; and one brother, Jack McGinnis of Belleville. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Julie Cardosi.

Joan retired from Parlin-Ingersoll Library after more than 25 years service.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canton. She was involved with B.P.W. She enjoyed reading and cherished time with family and friends. Joan loved all sports and was a loyal Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 2nd at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton with visitation from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Rev. Monroe Bailey will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Fulton County Humane Society.

Peoria – Grace Alice Jones, 91, of New Haven, IN, formerly of Peoria, passed away at 8:30 AM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Genesis Health Care in New Haven.

She was born March 12, 1924 in Louisville, KY to Newton Angus and Mary (Wright) Nelson. Grace married William H. Jones Sr on June 27, 1945 in Louisville and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are four children, Joyce (Galen) Schmucker of Ft. Wayne, IN, Janet (Gary) Spencer of Indianapolis, IN, William H. (Barb) Jones Jr of Mountain View, MO, and Julie (Allen) White of East Peoria, IL; nine grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death was one sister, Dorothy Steff of East Peoria.

Grace had been a cook at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 2nd at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Bartonville with visitation one hour prior.

Major Donna Miller will officiate.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria.

Elmwood – M. June Whisenand, 91, of Elmwood passed away at 12:30 PM Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Unity Point-Methodist in Peoria.

She was born February 22, 1924 in Augusta, Wisconsin to Silas and Alta (Abbott) Fleisher. June married Donald Whisenand on February 11, 1943 in Missouri. He died June 18, 1968.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; son-in-law, Jim Dolan; and two brothers.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Dolan of Yates City and Donna (Ronald) Boyer of Trivoli; two granddaughters, Lee Ann (Ryan) Hinthorne of Lawrenceburg, IN and Sara (Justin) Hanlin of Trivoli; five step grandchildren, Jim Dolan, Cathy Frangipane, Mike Dolan, Julie Boyer, and Bart Boyer; and fourteen great grandchildren, Hailee, Ashlee, Madilyn, Ryan, Claire, Garett, Cameron, Morgan, Chris, Kelsey, Jeff, Hunter, Gianna, and Nick.

June retired from Schissler Seed Company and also farmed with her husband.

She was a member of the Farmington Rebekah Lodge #155 and the Cramer Community Club.

June’s favorite activity was anything that involved her family. She also loved crafting of all kinds, especially China painting, antiquing, and playing cards.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 1st at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington with visitation one hour prior.

Rev. Krey Leesman will officiate.

Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington.

John Alfred Kerley Jr.

Peoria – John Alfred Kerley Jr. son of Darlene Malson Kerley and John Alfred Kerley was born September 30, 1970. He departed this life at his residence in Ellington, MO, on April 27, 2015, at the age of 44.

John was the band and music teacher at Southern Reynolds County Rll. He was of the Baptist Faith. John enjoyed fishing and he loved spending time with his son and all of his students and school.

John is survived by his parents, Al and Darlene Kerley of West Peoria, his son, Michael Kerley of Bartonville, his girlfriend, Kelly Rogers of Branson, MO, three brothers, Jerry Kerley and wife Kelly of Pekin, Mark Kerley and wife Dianna of Fiatt, Jason Kerley of West Peoria, and one sister, Michelle Banta and husband Robert of Canton. John will be deeply missed by his family and the community of Ellington.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 2nd from 5 to 8 pm at McSpadden Funeral Home, Ellington, MO.

A second visitation will be Tuesday, May 5th from 10 to 11 am at Endsley-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Bartonville with a funeral service at 11:00 AM.

Rev. Craig Hislope will officiate.

Burial will follow at Lutheran Cemetery, Peoria.

She was born June 7, 1926 in rural Princeville to Fred and Amanda (Barrett) Martzluf.

She married William A. Hayden on February 4, 1945 in Farmington and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2015.

Her parents also precede her in death.

Surviving are two sons, David (Erin) Hayden of Trivoli and Dean (Janis) Hayden of Elmwood; four grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and brother, Raymond (Dorothy) Martzluf of Galesburg.

Harriet enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, yard work, and helping on the farm.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 28h at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home, Farmington with visitation one hour prior.

Rev. Fred Reiner will officiate.

Burial will be in Trivoli Cemetery.

Canton – Annabelle M. Van Dyke, 94, of Canton passed away at 10:26 AM Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Graham Hospital, Canton.

She was born March 13, 1921 in Joshua Township, Fulton County, IL to Samuel and Alta (Wright) Rohrer. She married Kenneth Van Dyke on April 6, 1946 in Canton. He died in 2003.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, Robert Van Dyke; six brothers; and five sisters.

Surviving are two children, William (Frances) Van Dyke of Morton and Joyce (David) Fleisher of London Mills; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Annabelle worked as a cook in the Dietary Dept at Graham Hospital in Canton, retiring with 20 plus years service.

She was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Canton.

She loved gardening, yard work, traveling, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, April 27th at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton with visitation one hour prior.

Rev. Kevin Kessler will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Canton.

Farmington – Henry Wilson Seaman, 90, of Farmington, IL passed away at 1:45 AM Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Heights Nursing Home in Peoria Heights.

He was born March 3, 1925 in Washington Township, Ohio to Henry Ray and Ettie May (Powell) Seaman.

Henry married Norma Patterson on January 17, 1953 in Crystal Lake, Michigan.

She survives along with two sons, Jerry Seaman of Dallas, GA and Paul Seaman of Peoria; four grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

He was a self-employed electronic technician.

Henry was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Farmington and the Farmington American Legion Post #140.

He was a WWII Army Air Force veteran and flew a B-24 in the Asian Pacific Theater.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A funeral mass will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 25th at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Stiene officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington.

Memorials may be made to the Farmington Rescue 1100.

She was born November 19, 1927 in ? to Frank and Amy (?) Betson. She married Robert L. Pritchard on January 25, 1957 in Liverpool. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2002.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; her brother; and her sister.

Surviving are her son, Mike (Mary Jo) Eskridge of Canton; daughters, Cheryl (Ted) Bayard of Creve Coeur and Joyce (Ed) Sale of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Canton.

Pastor Tony Sale will officiate.

Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton is in charge of arrangements.
