Sharon K. Shryock

Canton – Sharon K. Shryock, 71, of Canton, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on December 21, 1945 in Oak Park to Howard “Doc” (Mary) Carley. She married Jim Shryock Sr. on March 29,1968 in Pekin, he preceded her in death in 2011.

Surviving are two children; Jim (Bonnie) Shryock of Hanna City, Julie Shryock of Canton; one sister Carolyn(Jim) Bowton of Geneseo, two step-brothers; Bruce and Dick Courtney of Canton.

She was also preceded in death by her father; Howard “Doc” Carley; mother; Mary Starkovich, and one sister; Dixie Ann O’Leary .

Sharon owned and operated Jim’s Tire Service in Canton.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday , April 21, 2017 at Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, where a visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Thursday, April 20, 2017. Cremation rites will be accorded following services. Memorials can be made to Mid America National Bank in Canton for a college fund for her grandchildren. To make online condolences you may go to

  5. We are so very to hear of sharon’s death. Jim and sharon were friends of mine since they came to Canton in the 1980’s and was surprised when each of the were taken away. Our thoughts and prayers are with their entire family. We are in North Carolina so we can not be there for the services.

    This is such a great loss to all who knew this wonderful woman! Sharon was such a “rock”! She’ll be missed by many. Our hearts and prayers go out to the family. The only good thing about her loss is that she’ll be reunited with her beloved Jim. I’ll bet she’s already been waiting on him ” hand and foot”.

    We are so sincerely sorry for your loss. It is a loss to us as well. Sharon was always ready to lend a hand. She has a most interesting sense of humor. We have brought our vehicles to Jim’s for years and well miss seeing her.
