Vicki L. Lovell Murphy

Canton – Vicki L. Lovell Murphy, 70, of Canton, passed away at 12:51 PM on Friday, August 25, 2017 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria. She was born on October 3, 1946 in Peoria, IL to D. Ray Lovell and Frances (Wood) Lovell Brenner. She married Phillip R. Murphy on March 9, 1968 in Fiatt, IL. He Survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jay (Jennifer) Murphy and Chad Murphy of Canton, IL; three brothers, Richard Lovell of Kentucky, Randy (Deanna) Lovell of Manito, IL, Dan (Donna) Lovell of Pekin, IL; four sisters, Juanita Robertson of Wisconsin, Carol (Wayne) Kephardt, Cathy (Steve) Ford of Metropolis, IL, Becky (Jerry) Peplow of Manito, IL; five grandchildren, Jeremy (Angie) Page, Amber Turner, Reneigh Fickas, Brittany Murphy, and Marissa Murphy; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, daughter, Lisa (Beja) Fickas, two brothers, Robert (Esther) and William (Elvira) Lovell, and sister, Patrica Hardin.

Vicki worked at Spoon River Electric Cooperative for 30 years retiring in 2008. She loved watching her grandkids play sports.

Per Vicki’s wishes there will be no services and cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1995 N. Main Street, Canton, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Spoon River College Foundation, 23235 County Rd 22, Canton, IL 61520.  To make online condolences you may go to

    So sorry for your loss. I hadn’t seen Vickey for many years, but we grew up together. We were best buddies in grade school and my first year of high school. She spent a lot of time at our house playing when we were little. So many great memories. She was loved deeply and will be missed. Our prayers for your family.

    VickiMurphy – What a trooper, always upbeat and a classy lady. Never missing important “games” or “band concerts” for Jay and Chad. Then Jennifer came on board and next on board was Brittnay and Marissa whom you supported in their athletic endeavors,

    We had a lot of good times on all our athletic trips with WIU baseball and Napa. Lots of great memories with you and Phil in all of our travels.
